A BIG, MESSY PLACE: ALAN BALL ON “TOWELHEAD”

PUNISHER: WAR ZONE
|
![]() Year Released: 2008 MPAA Rating: R Running Time: 106 minutes |
More so than any of the other movies, The Punisher is directly responsible for the mayhem and chaos that goes down. As the plot unfolds, we quickly realize that if Castle had simply stayed out of the way, pretty much every bad guy that is targeted by Castle would have been arrested on capital charges in a matter of days anyway.

BRUISED AND BATTERED: 2008 CINEVEGAS FILM FESTIVAL WRAP-UP
BEST OF 2008! I think I aged a year for every one of my 10 days in Vegas, coincidentally matching up with the CineVegas Film Festival’s 10th Anniversary. There were movies, there were parties, there were compromising photo shoots. Wouldn’t have it any other way…

MY NAME IS BRUCE
|
![]() Year Released: 2008 MPAA Rating: R Running Time: 86 minutes |
If you’re a Bruce Campbell fan, then nothing I say would dissuade you from seeing this one in the first place. If you’re not, I suggest you try watching “Burn Notice” first.

BURN AFTER READING (DVD)

CASABLANCA: ULTIMATE COLLECTOR’S EDITION (DVD)
|
![]() Year Released: 2008 MPAA Rating: Unrated Running Time: 102 minutes |
It’s “Casablanca.” Do I need to say anything else? Maybe you think it’s a mushy “chick flick,” but all I can say is this: Rent it sometime. You don’t have to tell anyone you did it. You can watch it when your girlfriend or wife isn’t around, and you can tell your friends that you’re [...]

![]() Year Released: 2008 MPAA Rating: Unrated Running Time: 91 minutes |
There is at least one happy human story here (a released inmate gets a job with a ranch, joins a church and gets married) and one happy horse story (a once-cantakerous horse becomes part of the U.S. Border Patrol)…
