GOING BACK TO TEXAS…

GOING BACK TO TEXAS…

The dust has barely settled from SXSW and I’m on my way back to Texas for the AFI Dallas Film Festival. I’ll be there April 1-6, and on Saturday, April 5 at 5:30pm I’ll be moderating the following panel:

A NEW GENERATION: TEEN FILMMAKERS TODAY
Digital cameras and laptop editing has made it much easier and accessible for young filmmakers to bring their visions to life. In a discussion targeted to these auteurs in the making, we’ll examine the tools they have at their disposal and what these technical advances have meant to the development of the film industry. Are young people still learning the storytelling techniques and creative fundamentals that have informed movie-making for decades? Are the choices that student filmmakers have to make different than the ones made by previous generations?

Should be fun. I am conflicted about going to Dallas, however, because I am a Philadelphia Eagles fan and hate anything remotely Cowboys-related. And Dallas is hardly remotely-related; they are the Beast. Debating wearing my McNabb jersey daily, though I have a small fear it will get me killed…
