2006 SUMMER MOVIE TRAILER ROUND-UP (PART 3)
JULY continued…
Clerks II
How awesome is it that smack-dab in the middle of the competitive blockbuster session is the sequel to a black and white indie film that came out more than a decade ago? The trailer had me at Jay doing the Silence of the Lambs dance…
AUGUST
Miami Vice
Who cares? Didn’t Bad Boys II do this already? I guess this deserves a shot because Michael Mann’s behind it but… whatever.
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
It’s made by the folks who gave us Anchorman, so if anyone knows how to let Will Ferrell just be funny, it’s this group. Plus it’s nice to see John C. Reilly playing a funny, dumb racer as opposed to a depressed, dumb husband.
World Trade Center
Ugh. Just ugh. If you wanted your September 11th memories Hollywood-ified, complete with menacing plane shadow and Jurassic Park rumbles… well, Oliver Stone delivers.
Snakes on a Plane
If Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest doesn’t win the summer, there’s a strong chance that this one will. Snakes on a Plane could run away with the loot on sheer honesty, and usher in a new era of b-movie “greatness.”
