The predictions continue as Film Threat looks at the remaining categories for the the Razzie Awards “Berry Worst of 2006″:
Film Threat’s Prediction: “Poseidon.” Beyond its big-budget gone awry, “Poseidon” deserves the nod for creating a film where the audience not only could care less who lives or dies, but is actually praying that the entire ship just implode so the film will end sooner.
Film Threat’s Prediction: “Basic Instinct 2.” Until home-video, this film seemed to be making negative money. Besides, this is the “Titanic” of the Razzies this year, so we might as well toss a few awards its way to keep things status quo.
Film Threat’s Prediction: Ron Howard, “The Da Vinci Code.” An almost impossible category to predict, we’re going with the hope that awards logic (based on our own predictions) will pan out and make us correct. What awards logic? Simply this: “Little Man” won Worst Picture, so Worst Director is out. Shyamalan got Worst Supporting, so he’s out. “Basic Instinct 2″ has too many nominations and Uwe Boll is… just so damn obvious. Therefore, we’re giving it to Opie.
“Basic Instinct 2,” Screenplay by Leora Barish & Henry Bean, Based on Characters Created by Joe Eszterhas
“Bloodrayne,” Screenplay by Guinevere Turner, Based on the Video Game
“Lady in the Water,” Written by M. Night Shyamalan
“Little Man,” Written by Keenan Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans
“Wicker Man,” Screenplay Adapted by Neil LaBute from a Screenplay by Anthony Schaffer
Film Threat’s Prediction: “The Wicker Man.” Neil LaBute should know better than to write this shit, adapted or no. At least everyone else had an excuse (videogame, genes, making a sequel based on Joe Eszterhas characters).
Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment
“Deck The Halls”
“Garfield 2: A Tail Of Two Kitties”
“Santa Clause 3″
“The Shaggy Dog”
Film Threat’s Prediction: “RV.” Another logic pick, as any one of these could take the title. Logic being: “Deck…” and “Santa Clause” are about Christmas while “Garfield…” and “Shaggy Dog” are about pets, leaving “RV” as the only film actually about a family (albeit, a poor representation). They all suck though.
There you have it, Film Threat’s predictions for this year’s Razzies. If you’re in Los Angeles, the Razzies will be given out Saturday, February 24th, 2007 at 7:30pm PST at the Ivar Theatre in Hollywood. If not, check back with Film Threat to find out who takes home the dubious distinctions.
