BYOD: BRING YOUR OWN DOC – EPISODE 27: 2012 TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL SPECIAL PT. 3: “EVERY TUESDAY,” “SEXY BABY” & “SIDE BY SIDE”
Watch new episodes of BYOD live each week on Tuesdays at noon on TheLip.TV, or tune in for the archived replay starting here on the following Thursday.
BYOD is co-hosted by Ondi Timoner, director of “DIG!,” “JOIN US” and “WE LIVE IN PUBLIC,” and has the rare distinction of winning the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance twice, and Vladimir Radovanov, entertainment attorney, and executive producer of “WE LIVE IN PUBLIC.” Each week the show explores a different documentary filmmaker or aspect of filmmaking, with special guests and a live Q&A– diving deep into creative process and the business realities of producing and distributing films. Ondi and Vladimir share their insider views, opinions, and personal stories, welcoming audience participation. BYOD aims to entertain, inform, and elevate documentaries in general by bringing attention to films and film makers that deserve exposure.
Rachel Loube studied sociology at Brandeis University and earned her MFA in social documentary film from the School of Visual Arts in 2011. In addition to Every Tuesday, she produced, directed, and edited the documentary short, This Is Tap, featuring the dancer Michelle Dorrance.
Jill Bauer, Co-Director, Producer, Sound Operator of Sexy Baby, was 15 when she landed her first interview with Barbara Walters and was so taken by the interview process that she never stopped asking questions — especially about relationships, one of her main beats while at the Miami Herald. Bauer is a Hearst and SPJ award-winning journalist and has written for and edited several magazines and newspapers. She is the author of the non-fiction humor book“From ‘I Do’ to ‘I’ll Sue’: An Irreverent Compendium for Survivors of Divorce.”
Ronna Gradus, Co-Director, Producer, Director of Photography of Sexy Baby, was born and raised in New York City. Since a young age she loved to watch people, so when a camera was placed in her hand a documentarian emerged. She graduated with a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and began her career as a photojournalist. Most notably she was a staff photographer at The Miami Herald where she was dubbed by editors as one of the strongest among the 22-member photography staff. While there, she was sent on several assignments in Cuba and covered Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
Chris Kenneally lives in Brooklyn. He wrote, directed, and produced the doc Crazy Legs Conti: Zen and the Art of Competitive Eating. He is currently in pre-production on a narrative feature about a teenage graffiti artist in Coney Island called Green Dolphin and is developing an episodic series called Chef.
