We also look at his Foo Fighters: Back and Forth, discuss his involvement with Steven Spielberg and get the inspiration behind his films in this BYOD career retrospective.

BYOD is hosted by Ondi Timoner, director of “DIG!,” “JOIN US” and “WE LIVE IN PUBLIC,” and has the rare distinction of winning the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance twice. Each week the show explores a different documentary filmmaker or aspect of filmmaking, with special guests and a live Q&A– diving deep into creative process and the business realities of producing and distributing films. Ondi shares her insider views, opinions, and personal stories, welcoming audience participation. BYOD aims to entertain, inform, and elevate documentaries in general by bringing attention to films and film makers that deserve exposure.
James Moll is a multi-award winning filmmaker and prolific doc maker. He co founded the Shoah Foundation with Steven Spielberg June Beallor in 1994. His film THE LAST DAYS was executive produced by Spielberg and won the 1999 Academy Award for best feature documentary. He went on to direct the Emmy winning INHERITANCE, about the daughter of a Nazi concentration camp commander (portrayed by Ralph Fiennes in SCHINDLER’S LIST). James followed next with the sports adventure documentary, RUNNING THE SAHARA, executive produced and narrated by Matt Damon. His 2011 film FOO FIGHTERS: BACK AND FORTH premiered at SXSW and earned him a Grammy award. Now he’s back with a new film, FARMLAND, which began a nationwide release May 1st.
