THURSDAY ^ “Coupling” ^ NBC ^ Boring actors, one dimensional characters and hack storylines are a major part of this new comedy. However, so are extensive discussions about boobs. Clearly, the original creators of the show (the English ones) wanted a “Friends” clone, but with more humping…a lot more. I’ll keep watching as long as Rena Sofer stays hot.
FRIDAY ^ “Married to the Kellys” ^ ABC ^ Remember Breckin Meyer from “Inside Schwartz”? Of course not and you won’t remember him after he gets this show canceled, either. My friend Tom Hertz based this show on his own life. Tom is a hilarious dude and he’s responsible for brilliant Emmy winning television, but when the network shoves a no-talent like Meyer down your throat, there’s not much you can do. Good luck, Hertzy.
“Joan of Aradia” ^ CBS ^ Love this show. The cast is extremely talented and as long as the God character doesn’t get too long-winded (as Gods tend to do) CBS should have another strong show for families. I mean, look how long “Touched by an Angel” lasted and on that show, God was only a recurring.
“Hope & Faith” ^ ABC ^ Kelly Ripa’s years of acting on a soap have honed her skills to a fine point. Unfortunately, her short time acting like a dumbass with Regis has ruined her comedic skills. Welcome to TGIF!
“The Handler” ^ CBS ^ I never really pictured Joey Pants as a father figure, but it works. Although, if they want to keep me watching, he’s going to have to go undercover himself once in awhile. I really dig cop shows and this one explores a whole new side of the FBI. Best of all, in this show, Pantoliano wears his best toupee ever.
“Miss Match” ^ NBC ^ Well, Miss Silverstone has certainly grown into an attractive young woman and it’s good to see Ryan O’ Neal back on TV, but I really don’t think I’m the audience for this show. I like the matchmaking thing…Oh crap, I just got it. “Miss Match,” mismatch. I take it back. Darren Starr has done it again!
