ATLANTA FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES EVENTS
The 27th annual Atlanta Film Festival has unveiled their line-up of events for June 6th-14th.
“We’ve changed the festival format to allow a wider variety of films for everyone and are looking forward to a central festival in downtown and midtown Atlanta. Our line-up this year brings the best in new cinema to Atlanta and isn’t to be missed,” said Brian Newman, Executive Director of IMAGE Film & Video Center, which produces the Atlanta Film Festival annually.
“The 2003 Atlanta Film Festival has invited nearly 60 feature films and over 75 shorts, from a record 1,000 submissions to be a part of what will certainly be our strongest and most diverse program to date,” Paul Marchant, Festival Director, announced today. Included in the line-up are films “Miranda,” starring Christina Ricci, The Hard Word, starring Guy Pearce and Rachel Griffiths, a special presentation of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, which will screen at the Starlight Six Drive-In, and local
documentary “Stories From the Road – A Film about Following PJ Harvey.”
Here’s something that’s sure to please the young ones in the audience, as well as drug addicts – a special presentation of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” on June 7th at Centennial Olympic Park. Festivities begin at 4pm, with costume contests, characters from the film and children’s activities. Characters from the film?? That means they’re gonna have Oompa-loompas there! Better make sure to pack plenty of acid.
