TEMECULA VALLEY AND ROME JOIN FORCES

The Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival has announced a partnership with the Rome Independent Film Festival that will include collaboration on films, awards, showcases and retrospectives.
“Our partnership with the Rome Independent Film Festival continues our commitment to screen international cinema in Southern California. We are looking forward to presenting an Italian Showcase in Temecula this September. As part of this partnership, we are pleased that our Grand Jury Award winning Feature will play in Rome as part of our collaboration with RIFF,” states Jo Moulton, Executive Director of TVIFMF.
The Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival is all set to roll, September 10-14, 2003, at The Movie Experience 10 at Tower Plaza (25735 Ynez Road). This year’s program consists of a selection of feature films, short films, animated films, student work and documentaries from around the globe inclusive of RIFF’s Italian feature and a 2-hour 35mm shorts program. Adding to the festival is The American Film Institute Showcase, Martial Arts Film Genre Workshop, Film & Music Competition, Black Tie Gala Lifetime Achievement Awards and a Sunday ALL STAR JAM to cap the Festival’s Closing Day Festivities.
The Rome Independent Film Festival, entering its third edition, is the largest independent film festival in Italy and takes place in February. Working closely with the major universities in Europe, RIFF has a special emphasis on promoting young artists and independent cinema with an active interest in screening work from Eastern European countries and bringing it to the attention of distributors and Italian audiences. This year RIFF is planning to showcase work from Poland. The RIFF is often times the only way that audiences in Italy are able to see independent films since so much of Italy’s film culture is dominated by large budget European and American films. A portion of the proceeds from the RIFF go to UNICEF.
“We are delighted to enter into a collaboration with Temecula, which has an outstanding reputation for showcasing excellence in film and music. As part of our relationship, we look forward to welcoming the Grand Jury Award winner from Temecula to our festival,” states Fabrizio Ferrari, Executive Director of RIFF.
