The following are the winners of the Sixth Annual Arpa International Film Festival in Los Angeles:
Best Feature ^ “Last Supper”, directed by Feredioun Jeyrani ^ The story of a college professor, who after 26 years of living with her husband gets a divorce from him through the insistence of her daughter and nanny. When one of her students Mani enters her life, everything changes. Mani loves the teacher, while her daughter loves Mani. Finally the professor decides to marry the student and her shocked daughter sets out to seek revenge.
Best Documentary ^ “Our House”, directed by Sevan Matossian ^ A bold and moving documentary exploring an intimate view of human struggle told through three unique people.
Best Short ^ “The Babysitter”, directed by Gideon Raff ^ A coming of age story of one night in the lifes of two kids and the secret they share that could change their lives forever.
Audience Favorite ^ “Bachelorman”, directed by John Putch ^ A comedy about Ted Davis, the ultimate scoring machine. He’s got the rap, the charm and his little black book weighs several pounds. Ted has become a guru to his buddies who can only aspire in awe to his greatness.
Special Jury Award ^ “Frescoes”, directed by Alexandre Gutman ^ A documentary shot in the Armenian city of Giumn, almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1988. Soon after that tragedy Armenia gained independence. Happiness and misfortune always go hand in hand. The earthquake destroyed one city, but built another-the city of the dead, the cemetery. The film is about life on the boundary between the city of the living and the city of the dead, on the boundary between childhood and adult life.
The Armin T. Wegner Award ^ “Destination Nowhere”, directed by Carlo Massa ^ A documentary about the genocide of the Armenians in Turkey in 1915 told through the letters and images of an eye witness; Armin Theophil Wegner.
