The FirstGlance 8 Film Festival in Philadelphia is set to roll out, May 11-15. The festival encourages networking between festivalgoers and moviemakers and brings the true spirit of indie filmmaking to audiences. At FirstGlance, the audience chooses the winners and each winner from the Philadelphia festival will be screened at the FirstGlance Hollywood Fest in December.
The stars are out on FirstNight, May 11th. Join FirstGlance and special invited guests for the opening reception featuring drinks from sponsors Monster and Killer Buzz and free beauty products from Kiehls.com. Star-studded flicks follow as Director Jeff Wadlow, former
FirstGlance selection and winner of the Chrysler Million Dollar Prize, screens his new project, Catching Kringle, starring Danny DeVito and Jon Rhys-Davies. Nobody’s Perfect, a film by Hank Azaria, will also be shown and stars Hank Azaria, Maria Bello, Ellen Pompeo, Christina
Applegate, and Jeffrey Tambor. See the World premiere of Mr. Dramatic, starring Oliver Hudson and the feature film, What Hides Beneath from Philadelphia’s own, Director Anthony Fletcher. An after party follows the screenings at Konak Turkish Restaurant, 228 Vine Street.
Thursday, May 12th’s screening includes the short narrative, 8 Minutes to Love, starring Sandra Oh, the mini-doc, I Choose to Stay Here by Philadelphia filmmakers Lisa Segarra, Rosemary Cabus, Debora Kodish, Iris Torres and Barry Dornfeld and the FirstGlance 5 Hollywood Feature Winner, Runaways by Brent Bambic. After the screenings, attendees are invited to an after party at The Five Spot, 5 South Bank Street.
A night of horror for Friday the 13th. It’s a Friday the 13th fright fest with projects that go bump in the night like There’s Something Out There, We All Fall Down, Myron and A Perfect Fit. After, come party at Marmont Steakhouse, 222 Market Street.
Saturday night, May 14th, includes the features How You Look to Me by J. Miller Tobin and see Stephen Tobolowsky’s Birthday Party by Robert Brinkmann before it hits theatres. And don’t miss My Name is… by Don Handfield. Party at Konak Turkish Restaurant, 228 Vine Street, following the screenings.
Closing night festivities, Sunday, May 15th, include the features The Toolbooth by Debra Kirschner and Hooray for Mister Touchdown by local director, Rod Bingaman. Other Philly projects include The Zit by Mike Blum and Major Liberty and Justice Lad by John Zito. After the screenings, attendees can join the after party at Swanky Bubbles, 10 S. Front Street, for drink specials, food and the announcement of the festival winners.
