DISCOVER INDIES IN ANTELOPE VALLEY

Now in its ninth year, the Antelope Valley Independent Film Festival has developed a reputation as a filmmaker-friendly festival with standing-room only crowds and lively post-screening discussions. In 2004, over 70 filmmakers participated in the festival weekend from all areas of film production. Over 3600 people attended over 65 films in three days including a number of Oscar-nominated shorts and documentaries. In 2005, the festival will launch a new educational program as a result of a grant it received from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. The festival seeks to showcase the best in undistributed short and feature films in all genres from around the world. This year’s event takes place May 13-15.
Official selections of this year’s festival include The Meaning of Life, South Baghdad, Four Eyed Monsters, West Bank Story and Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea.
