Christopher W. Klaus, founder and CEO of Kaneva, Inc. and a member of the Film, Video and Advisory Commission of Georgia, will headline a panel about online distribution options for independent filmmakers at the upcoming 2006 Slamdance Film Festival. Klaus will discuss the newest trends in film distribution, focusing on how filmmakers can leverage the Internet to directly connect with their audiences, gain recognition and be part of a growing Internet economy. During the interactive portion of the panel, Klaus will be joined by other professionals from AOL Productions, Discmaker, Flickerfest International Film Festival, Australia, as well as Greg Frame, Co-Founder of Kaneva, Inc. They will discuss financial structures, case studies of successful films that have been distributed online and the latest technology trends for uploading, promoting and viewing films online.
The free Slamdance “Online Distribution” Fireside Chat will take place at 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 25 in the Slamdance Lounge, 608 Main Street in Park City, Utah, and will be open to the public.
Klaus will join Kaneva co-founder and Chief Gaming Officer, Greg Frame, along with other game industry experts to also speak on a Slamdance Guerrilla Game Maker Competition panel titled “The Indie Scene – Games as Business”. Scheduled to take place at 3:00 PM Monday, January 23 in the Slamdance Game Lounge at the Treasure Mountain Inn, this panel will focus on the importance of independent game development to the broader video game market. Klaus will share his predictions about the convergence of games and film, the emerging market for casual single-player and multi-player online games, as well as the rapidly expanding development and distribution opportunities for independent game makers.
