LOS ANGELES ITALIAN FILM AWARDS

There were doubts that the Los Angeles Italian Film Awards were going to get past their make-or-break first year — so many small film gatherings struggle just to get their word out and attract an audience. But the Awards, now in their third year, continue to grow steadily and have become one of the most popular cultural events in the region. From [ April 24th ] through [ April 28th, 2001 ] , the LAIFA will do it all over again with screenings, special panels, and guests galore. Currently, they’re accepting film submissions in feature, short, documentary and animation genres until [ February 15th, 2001 ] .
What also sets the LAIFA apart is their mission for the future of the Awards, which aims “to establish a successful cross-cultural interaction between Rome and Los Angeles, as with the funding of a scholarship program especially designed for the next generation of Italian and Italian-American filmmakers.”
To learn more about the event, as well as all submission requirments and volunteer opportunities, see the [ official LAIFA site. ]
