SANDWICHES AND CINEMA: THE SUBWAY FRESHFEST

Subway is currently the largest chain of submarine sandwich shops in the world. If you think global domination through meatball subs and 12″ BBQ chicken on whole wheat is enough for this mammoth food monster, then you’d be wrong — Subway has recently announced their first-ever FRESHFest Film Festival, to be held from [ January 18th ] through [ January 24th, 2001 ] in Park City, right alongside Sundance, Slamdance, Nodance, and the rest of the area gang.
Subway shops are most directly linked to the film world thanks to appearances in movies like “Terminator 2,” “Happy Gilmore,” “Coneheads,” and “Lethal Weapon 2″. And the chain has also loaned its support to the indie features “Mulligan” and “Directing Eddie,” both of which will play at the FRESHFest along with shorts and trailers for flicks seeking distribution. It’s fast food, commerce, and art. The festival site is in development, but if you’re hungry for Subway-style movie reviews, they’ve got a few at the [ official Subway site. ]
