The Independent Feature Project/West Los Angeles Film Festival announced the winners of the audience awards and the recipient of the Critics Prize. The festival concluded today with a special awards ceremony. Over the 9-day event, 51 feature films and 48 short films were screened for an international audience of over 30,000.
The 2001 Critics Prize went to KAATERSKILL FALLS, directed and produced by Josh Apter and Peter Olsen. The Critics Jury bestowed a Special Jury Award for Writing and Acting to Heather Juergensen and Jennifer Westfeldt for KISSING JESSICA STEIN. The Critics Jury also presented an Honorable Mention to LIFE AND DEBT, directed by Stephanie Karen Black.
The Critics Jury was Jami Bernard of New York Daily News, Emanuel Levy of Screen International, and Stephanie Zacharek of Salon.com.
The Audience Award for Best Feature Film went to KISSING JESSICA STEIN, directed by Charles Herman-Wurmfeld and produced by Eden Wurmfeld and Brad Zions. The award is co-sponsored by Eastman Kodak Company.
The Audience Award for Best Short went to HORSES ON MARS, directed by Eric Anderson.
