2012 BORSCHT FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES LINEUP

The eighth annual Borscht Film Festival has announced its lineup for the 2012 event, taking place in Miami from December 12-21, 2012. From the official press release:

The Borscht Film Festival has selected the 16 short films it will commission, produce and screen at their eighth annual event. This year’s shorts include works by directors: Amy Seimetz (Tiny Furniture, Sun Don’t Shine) Adan Jodorowsky (son of legendary director Alejandro Jodorowsky) and Court 13 / Ray Tintori (producers of the award winning Beasts of the Southern Wild) among others.

Borscht flew in eight guest filmmakers from around the world to create progressive and cutting edge short films. Filmmakers also collaborate with local musicians including Jacuzzi Boys and Blowfly. Through these works, Borscht creates an exchange and dialogue between International film centers that are quickly becoming the birthplace of some of the most interesting independent film projects. Production on the shorts began in August 2012 and continues through November 2012.

Last year Borscht produced over 30 short works including the Sundance Film Festival hit “Life and Freaky Times of Uncle Luke”, “Play Dead”, “I Am Your Grandma” and Barry Jenkins “Chlorphyl” that screened at over 50 International film festivals.

According to Borscht’s Milton Garcia “Our festival is quickly becoming a forum for filmmakers to share their work and ideas away from commercial pressures. You don’t need to be anywhere specific to create world class work, as long as you are surrounded by people who inspire you in a place you love.”

Films will screen on Saturday, December 15 at the Ziff Ballet Opera House- Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami. Tickets are available in advance at www.borscht8tickets.com
