The 2002 Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival celebrated its finale during the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, naming Jeff Wadlow as the winner of the $1,000,000 feature film production deal courtesy of the Chrysler brand, Hypnotic and Universal Pictures.
The Feature Film Pitch in Toronto kicked off in style on September 12th with an exclusive party co-sponsored with Maxim Magazine at Colony restaurant. Installations featured each filmmaker’s qualifying and Extreme Film, storyboards, movie poster, production photos and related materials. Celebrities such as Stephen Dorff, Eddie Griffin, Bai Ling, Adam Sandler and Stephen Baldwin mingled with the five finalists. The festivities continued on September 13th when The Chrysler Brand, Hypnotic and Universal hosted The Pitch and Awards Ceremony, where the finalists premiered their scenes and presented their projects. I can imagine that after meeting Stephen Baldwin, the heat must’ve been on bewteen the finalists.
The five finalists were Patrick Daughters (“Bountiful Utah”), Matthew Ehlers (“Vows and Rites”), Geoffrey Haley (“The Emerald Room”), Seth Wiley (“RX”) and Jeff Wadlow’s winning entry, “Living the Lie.”
“I’m so honored to have won the award and production deal,” said filmmaker Jeff Wadlow. “This is truly a dream come true; seeing my vision come alive, supported by the top people in Hollywood. I’m grateful to DaimlerChrysler, Hypnotic and Universal Studios for giving me the chance of a lifetime. I’d also like to salute the other finalists; hopefully we’ll all be making films for a long time.”
Let’s just hope that they’re good.
