DETROIT CITY DOCS
Detroit Docs will host Detroit’s very first documentary film festival, November 15-17.
Throughout the weekend, audiences will be able to view the work of filmmakers from across the country and around the world. Entries were received from as far as Spain, Vancouver, Australia, U.K., California and New York.
“This started out as a small event to showcase the efforts of local filmmakers. I can’t believe how fast it took off and how excited people are,” said festival director Chris Walny. “I just love film festivals and felt frustrated by the lack of offerings in Detroit. Documentaries are my favorite and I think the genre is exploding right now. Cameras and editing systems are becoming more readily available and so a lot of new filmmakers with fresh ideas are emerging.”
