I was deep frying what few brain cells I have left on the old goggle box when I saw an ad for a new movie. It's called RADIO and stars Ed Harris & Cuba Gooding Jnr. Cuba plays a mentally challenged, or to un-PC, retarded fellow who becomes a helper for the local football team. I knew exactly what the whole purpose of that movie is.
CUBA GOODING JNR. WANTS ANOTHER OSCAR!
It's a problem that afflicts many celebrities, especially actors who are nominated or even worse, actually win an Academy Award. They immediately start appearing in 'heartwarming,' 'meaningful,' and downright stomach churning movies in a vain attempt to land at least another nomination.
The become OSCAR WHORES, selling what little talent they have left like some poor junkie turning tricks for another hit of crack. And it's all pointless, because 99% of Oscar Whoring ends in bitter failure.
Look what it did to poor Winona Ryder. GIRL INTERRUPTED was supposed to be her Oscar vehicle. The whole experience left her unable to get arrested in Hollywood until she actually did get arrested.
That's why I'm calling for a moratorium on people getting nominated for playing the mentally challenged/unstable, terminally ill, valiantly righteous, or bereaved. It's the only way we can save these poor Hollywood types from destroying themselves.
