Columbus/ Cleveland, OH, Oct 22nd , 2003 - Sonnyboo movies shot on location at the Second City Cleveland, starring the main stage cast, will be screened at the Ohio Independent Film Festival on November 6th, 2003 at the Cleveland Public Theatre. All of these screening come on the heels of a TV broadcast deal for several Sonnyboo productions to air nationally on "Video On Demand" in the United States. One of the movies' stars, Jack Hourigan, now a hosts a show on the Food Network.

"An opportunity to screen your movies with an audience comes along very rarely for Independent filmmakers, especially from Ohio." says Peter John Ross, the director/co-writer/producer. "Our heartfelt congratulations to Jack on getting on the Food Network. We're very excited about our TV deal too. It's a real validation to the work."

The movies first gained a great deal of momentum on the Internet. With the borders of Television and Online blurring everyday, members of the main stage cast from Second City and Columbus based filmmakers endeavor to break down the walls separating them. With more than twenty Sonnyboo shorts online
already, modern technology allows these movies to reach the world. This is like having Saturday Night Live, MAD TV, or Mr. Show on your computer for free.

Aside from the web, the movies have also have screened at multiple venues such as the SECOND CINE at the Second City Toronto, where the movies are nominated for "BEST SPECIAL FX" and also "BEST FOREIGN FILM". Other screenings have been at New York City at the "Filet O' Film" screenings, "Freight Film Salon", and the FLICKER FILM FESTIVAL series, which includes
New York, Los Angeles, Raleigh N.C., Cleveland, Austin TX, and several other cities. Locally, some of the movies have played at the ZENGENIUS SHORT FILM SCREENING, the SIVAD FESTIVAL OF INDEPENDENT FILMS, and also at the QUEEN CITY FILM FESTIVAL in Cincinnati.

One short, "The Line of Masculinity" featuring WUAB THE BLOCK's Jack Hourigan, played at the JUST FOR LAUGHS comedy festival in Montreal this past July as a part of the EAT MY SHORTS program. The screenings took place at the Cinema du Parc, and for members of the entertainment industry. Each year the Just For Laughs festival draws over 1,000 people from the entertainment industry, and over 1,000,000 members of the public. (see http://www.hahaha.com/> www.hahaha.com for more info)

Being the indie film fanatic I am, I have actually seen this doc. Definitely worth checking out. It's also funny at times as well as informative and entertaining. To see how this whole genre has impacted a culture across the globe.
