Since it seems we've got nothing going on in this part of the forum, it's probably best to get something started. Yeah, that seems simple enough!
So I put it to any indie filmmakers we've got prowling our forum. What films are you guys and gals working on? Come on, let's read about 'em!!

What the heck, I'll lead off....
I'm currently working on "American Scary", a documentary on TV horror show hosts, tracing the genre's roots from the early days in local broadcast TV, up to its recent resurgence in cable access and the internet...
So far, we've recorded interviews with Forrest J Ackerman, Bob Burns, Bill 'Chilly Billy' Cardille, Lowell Cunningham, Frank J. Dello Stritto, 'Doktor Goulfinger', Joel Hodgson, Leonard Maltin, James Morrow, Tom Savini, the 'Son of Ghoul', and Len Wein... we've got interviews coming with Tim Conway, Joe Flaherty, Bruce Campbell, and 'Zacherley', among others... we'll also be recording interviews with hosts and fans at the Cinema Wasteland and Chiller conventions in October...
We're aiming to finish my next summer, and hopefully do some kind of sneak or premiere at SDCC and/or DragonCon, and then hit the festival circuit... we've already had some distribution interest, but that's too nebulous to talk about right now... :)
It's shaping up to be a fun project...

. . . is coming in 2004!
Here's the official "first look trailer," hosted by "Genuine Nerd" Toby Radloff, featuring the already-infamous "Piano Lesson" sequence, bookended by two equally lurid scenes. Comic-book artist P. Craig Russell beats Lori Scarlett with a belt! 'Nuff Said! Click on the following:

We have three projects in the works... one we're working on now, one we will be working on in December, and one we will be shooting in the late spring.
The project we are working on now is a 4 DVD Set - The Guide to Nobudget Filmmaking. It will include tons of how-to build your own gear sections (stabilzers, dolly's, light kits, etc.), how to get stuff for free (food, gear, etc), how to work with what you have, how to find cast and crew, how to raise a little money, how to shoot guerrilla style... no permits, etc., directing tricks that can get better performances out of your actors, editing, finding music for free, special FX, stunt fighting, submitting to film fests, finding distribution, self-distributing, etc... and the list goes on... you can check out a link for seriously discounted pre-orders at:
http://www.digitalevolutionproject.com/nobudgetfilmmaking.htm
Our fall project is going to be a thriller/horror film shot around the L.A. area and out in the desert... yeah, I know everyone uses the desert... but that's because there are so many great locations you don't need permits for.... this is really going to be a run and gun shoot. I am planning on shooting over 5 weekends, with a 6th being available for pickup shots. The plot is sort of a zombie film without the zombies... the audience won't know who is bad and who is good... I am really looking to build up serious paranoia.
The third film we are shooting next spring (late). I plan to either shoot in HD or to shoot with the Pan. DVX100. I am breaking another of the no-no rules, and doing a film about a group of hack filmmakers... I do have a really good take on it, and a way for everyone to relate... not just making an insider's film.
We are still looking into our business plans for the 2nd and 3rd projects... the 2nd one will be a nobudget feature film (under $5K), while the 3rd we are looking to raise a bit more and get at least a few days with a mid-level B-Star. We'll see.

Okay, never say I'll turn down an opportunity for a free plug...
SEVERE INJURIES, written and produced by me, directed and starring Amy Lynn Best, is being edited right now and should premiere at the Twisted Nightmare Weekend next month in Akron.
THE RESURRECTION GAME may actually see the light of day as early as Christmas. Got the neg finally transferred to digital video, so now all I have to do is re-edit and marry it to the soundtrack.
We're in talks to produce RAZOR DAYS, a really grim, gritty psychological thriller early next year.
And, hey, our very first short, TENANTS, is an extra on Sub Rosa's CAMPFIRE TALES dvd, so all in all, we may actually have some credits to our name!

Here's the presskit for a pathetic three year waste of my time that I am now forced to turn into a documentary about the failure of itself entitled:
SERIALCAM: Revelations
Anatomy of a Failure
http://www.serialcam.com/presskit_online.html
The original idea was to take a borderline personality friend of ours and drive him insane enough to kill someone so we could have content for the website of the same name.
He didn't go insane. We didn't get any footage of him killing anyone. We suck.
There were some high points in the whole thing tho and these will eventually be shown in segments online in my new project coming next spring called "The Joe Show".
More on this as it develops.

I just finished a feature-length documentary and just entered Sundance, Slamdance, London, & Rotterdam festivals and also submitted to Film Forum and we have a two week booking! Here is the press release:
Superstar in a Housedress to Premiere at Film Forum in NYC (Spring 2004)
We are pleased to announce that "Superstar in a Housedress", the feature length documentary about the life and legend of Jackie Curtis will have its New York City premiere and first two week theatrical run at Film Forum in the spring of 2004. Film Forum is New York's leading movie house for independent premieres, documentaries, and repertory programming. Film Forum Director Karen Cooper selected the film and will announce specific dates for the run later this year. After viewing the film Karen said, “It's a wonderful film, it captures both Jackie's spirit and the spirit of the times he lived in.”
Superstar in a Housedress examines the life and legend of Warhol transvestite superstar Jackie Curtis who was a poet, playwright, performer, and one of the great personalities of his time. The film features on-camera interviews with actor Harvey Fierstein who played Jackie’s mother in “Americka Cleopatra” when he was 18, Ellen Stewart, founder of LaMama Experimental Theater Club, John Vaccaro, founder of the Playhouse of the Ridiculous, Paul Morrissey, Director of the Andy Warhol films, and surviving superstars Holly Woodlawn and Joe Dallesandro, plus 24 other friends and colleagues of Jackie's.
The film includes never-before-seen video and film clips of Jackie performing in stage plays including "Femme Fatale”, and “Glamour, Glory and Gold", and cabarets including the legendary 1974 "Cabaret in the Sky - An evening with Holly Woodlawn and Jackie Curtis”. The music of jazz musician and composer Paul Serrato who wrote and performed music for many of Jackie's productions, including "Vain Victory” is featured, as is the photography of Jack Mitchell who took more photographs of Curtis and the Warhol crowd than any other professional.
Interviews with media personalities, writers and editors put the work and life of Jackie Curtis in historical perspective. The film is narrated by Lily Tomlin.

Jumping ahead of ABERRATION BOULEVARD on the Lurid release schedule is my documentary on acclaimed comics illustrator P. Craig Russell (DR. STRANGE, SANDMAN, THE RING OF THE NIBELUNG!)
It's called (what else?) "PCR!"
It's loaded with interviews and lots of great PCR art, but even more interesting--to me, at least--is the personal stuff. I followed Craig down to his lil' hometown of Wellsville, Ohio and got some great "down home" footage.
It will be done in a few months and out on DVD in early 2004. Lots of extras on the DVD, including Craig doing a complete illustration--from start to finish! Plus a PCR "Opus List," sketchbook rarities and much more!
Afterr that, it's back to CineTrash with ABERRATION BOULEVARD! :p

Our latest project is a feature screening at The San Diego Film Festival next month.
Our biggest claim to fame, so far, seems to be that we shot a feature in 9 days. That meant some 16-18 page days. Those of you who have made a film will know what that means.
We opened at DancesWithFilms and I was surprised at the laughs we got. It was even bigger than the crew showing. Everybody I’ve talked to loved it (except Pete Vonder Haar apparently).
Anyway, if you find yourself in San Diego Sept 18th check it out, say “Hi,” and give me you honest opinion. Our web page is at the bottom of this post and features pictures, trailers and story boards. Yes, you’ve got to story board even the bar scenes if you want to make your 16 page days.

Recently premiered our feature THREE BARBECUES (May 2003) and got a great response/support locally. Been submitting the feature to festivals since and will continue to work that circuit for another year. Recent festivals that we've submitted to include: CUFF (which declined) and Brooklyn Underground (announcing any day).
Took part in the 48 Film Project in August when it rolled through Cincy, submitted a 6-minute spy short called "C.I.A. Holes" and won an audience favorite award. The short will be in the "Best of..." in September.
Currently, prepping a music video for the band BUCKRA.

I'm working on my second short film ("Sins of the Mother"). We're just about finished principal photography, and I'm going into the editing zone of no return.
Any hints or tips would be well appreciated.

Working on two films:
1.) Untitled- The more serious of the two. About a new drug in town that causes the teenagers in a small town to do some very violent things and the man who gets wrapped up in the mess as he mourns the loss of his best friend.
2.) Zombie Serenade- A balls-to-the-wall horror that just happens to be a musical. All the songs are full to the brim with sexual innuendo. Songs are ready... Movie is harder. It's hard enough to find people to ACT let along SING, DANCE and ACT.

Hi All, I've been a Filmthreat reader since 1999 when Chris Gore used to respond to my emails quicker I can say Ah. (j/k), he wasn't that busy then. I've been in filmmaking circle here in Cleveland, Ohio since 1998 and been a supporter and sponsor for the Ohio Independent Film Festival and their current name as Independent Pictures.
Currently I just finished 2 short films, one is an experimental test of a 3.5 minutes short martial art flick that we did in a confined location with wires (http://www.mdifilm.com/thechase). The other is a drama about a person with duo personality and other disorders (http://www.mdifilm.com/RD).
Upcoming projects including a $300k budget planned for LA coproduced by Stephen Lebed (Visual FX Supervisor for Charmed), this is currently in pre-production.
Addionally, working with a few distributors to release a feature I produced called Haywire plus working on 2 short vampire film.
Lastly, putting together a full day DP Workshop for Independent Pictures, you can find out more at http://www.ohiofilms.com/2003festival/lighting

Hi all I am Joe aka Splatterpope.
I am currently working on my second made for video release feature entitled "Revenants". Here is the synopsis. I figured I would share it with you all. Hope you like it.
Splatterpope.
Revenants Synopsis:
Amy Rogers a late twenty's ordinary girl who up until the recent past had nothing to worry
about except getting her boss coffee at her secretarial job. After moving from her apartment
because of a burglery she thought things were on the up swing at her new place. She was wrong.
She has become plagued with what can only be described as poltergeist activity. These
ghosts have made Amy's life unbearable. Amy reads an article in the paper about Dr. Harlan West
and his team of ghost chasers. Dr. Harlan West is a leading figure in the field of paranormal
research who has founded the ailing department of paranormal studies at Combs College. His
team is comprised mainly of his students. Rebecca who is also his daughter, Glenn the
videographer, Zack the engineering major, Madison a top notch research assistant and Abby their
resident Psychic.
After interviewing Amy Harlan and the team agree to help her with her ghost infestation
and set out to find the source of her trouble and with luck get the proof that is needed to keep the
department of paranormal studies afloat. They arrive at Amy's apartment and set out to find the
answers they are seeking. They don't have to wait long until the ghosts make their presence
known. After initial encounters they begin to get an idea what they are up against until Madison
brings floor plans to the group of Amy's apartment and shares with them information they were not
prepared to hear.
Amy's apartment was involved in a fire a while before she moved in and the person
contracted to repair it is none other than Charlie Ray Maddock part time contractor and full time
serial killer. Maddock butchered six people and placed their body parts behind the walls of other
apartments that he had worked on before he was captured. While in the custody of the police
awaiting his trial Maddock died under mysterious circumstances. Madison also discovers that
Maddock was very heavy into the occult before his death.
With this new and baffling information the team fights to find a connection between Amy's
ghost problem and Maddock. The connection is unclear until they find a traitor in their midst. The
group finds out that Abby is actually Abigail Valencia an extremely evil witch who had originally
died in 1863 by being burned at the stake for witchcraft and attempting to murder six people. She
was brought back by Maddock through the use of his knowledge of the occult and held prisoner by
him. Maddock used of an idol that protects him from her evil. Maddock wanted to force her to
share her witchcraft secrets of Immortality so that he himself could become an Immortal killer.
Abby not willing to give them up frustrates and angers Maddock so he then proceeds to kill her
new intended ritual victims that she acquired to complete her spell. Abby escapes from him and
then sets him up for the police to capture and while he is locked far away from his protective idol
she finds it easy to kill him.
Abby had infiltrated Harlan's group to use them along with Amy as the next batch of
victims for her spell of immortality. Maddock made sure he had a contingency plan. With the use
of his own limited witchcraft he made a doorway into the afterlife in Amy's apartment unbeknownst
to anyone including Abby, this way he could come back in the event of his own untimely demise.
Maddock comes back to lure Abby into crossing over into his domain. Purgatory. In preparation for
her immorality spell Abby casts a spell onto Amy's apartment trapping all inside. Maddock comes
from the other side and kills off two members of the paranormal research group and leaves their
souls behind angering Abby.
This is the bait he needs for Abby. Furious, Abby goes into purgatory after Maddock. The
group who is now imprisoned in Amy's spell locked apartment have no choice but to follow Abby
into Purgatory. They hope that it may lead to a way out. Before they can enter the portal Maddock
comes through and Kidnaps Harlan's daughter Rebecca. This seals the fate of the remaining
group who now has to enter purgatory to stop Maddock and Abby get Rebecca back and save
themselves.

I've been thinking about making a star wars parody for the 2004 Lucasfilm / Atomsfilm contest.
Not sure yet though. Don't know if I wanna pump the cash into it, you know for costumes and effects and everything. I've got a script though.
Got another script for a medieval/fantasy flick. Again, don't have the funding for the period costumes/props though. So basically I'm just sitting on a lot of projects. ...... waiting to go into production

1) In early 2003 I was asked to write a horror screenplay about a rock band. I banged it out and it was shot in the summer. I originally called it "Blood Lyric", but they also heard me jokingly refer to it as "Studio 666"... and they liked it. So now it's called "Studio 666" and in final stages of post-production. It looks like it's going to be getting decent distribution.
2) A filmmaker in San Francisco read the screenplay to "Studio 666" and asked me to write him a screenplay. It's called "Pristine Angst". It's a little more tame than "Studio 666". If "Studio 666" was "American Werewolf in London", then "Pristine Angst" would be compared to "The Ring" or "Signs". Not saying they're similar to any of those movies... just giving you an idea of the level of each movie's intensity/violence...etc.
3) The sci-fi comedy I co-wrote, "Inbred Redneck Alien Abduction" is currently in the editing phase. It's being released by Eric Stanze's Sub Rosa Extreme label. It's pretty wild... and certainly nothing like any movie that they've ever released. I co-wrote this movie with these instructions: make a movie that answers the question: "What would happen if the aliens from Close Encounters abducted the hillbillies from Deliverance?"
4) I am currently in talks to sell my short screenplay "Crooked Letter, I" - it's an excellent short script for a filmmaker trying to make a name for himself. It features comedy sequences, action sequences, drama, suspense, and even a little erotic moment or two. Incidently, if any of you are interested, lemme know.
5) I am currently in talks to write a screenplay adapted from a story from some dude out here in LA. It always sucks not meeting these people face to face... which is why I really would like to move out to LA. As a matter of fact, if you know anyone who has cheap rent, lemme know. I just might move.
6) I am looking for someone who wants a screenplay or treatment written. If you are a producer, contact me.

Right now I'm working on the budget for our company's biggest movie to date. Being that we actually have a budget!
We have some great people signed for it; Brinke Stevens, Amber Benson, Reggie Bannister, Mike Quinn. We're really excited and can't wait to start filming!
Other than that, I've been getting great responses on the first feature I directed, Severe Injuries. It's due out later this year.
And The Resurrection Game, a long time in the making, is in the final stages of post production. We hope to have it finished by the April Conventions (finally)!
Amy
My writing partner and I just shot our first feature-length movie last summer on High Definition.
We thought it would be fun to do a golfing comedy, and thus "Frog Hair" was born. We shot for 30 straight days -- usually during the hottest part of the day -- in July in Arkansas. Resulting average weight loss per crew person: 15 pounds!
Currently, we're working on a final cut from downconverted mini-DV footage, and then hopefully we'll have some good response from film festivals.
You can see a preliminary version of our trailer at www.froghair.biz. Yes, I know, anyone who uses .biz is a complete moron and is likely doomed to failure. Feel free to give feedback on the trailer.

Hey, everybody—
It’s been a week since anybody posted here, so I don’t know if anyone’s gonna come back to read this or not, but I just wanted to share with you all that Bizzlejig Films is currently filming a zero-budget slasher movie entitled ROSE here in Las Vegas. It’s your basic plot: On prom night, some drunk teenagers get a little out of control with a couple of their peers and end up killing them and covering it up. Cut to ten years later, they all start getting hacked up one by one.
It’s nothing groundbreaking, I know, but it’s a chance for me to make my first feature-length movie. And I’ve tried to write a somewhat smart (or at least believable) script with enough doses of humor to keep us from taking ourselves too seriously. I even attempted to add some metaphors into the mix which is something not used much in the horror genre (or at least not in TODAY'S horror genre).
My website (www.bizzlejig.com) is still under construction, but as soon as I get it up and running, I’ll let you guys know. I plan to post some production diaries, cast pictures and bios, and (when I get around to filming it) a teaser trailer.
My first short film, “Hole” (which is now about 10 years old) is still available for viewing at Ifilm.com. It’s the one directed by L. Alan Brooks.

My film (just going into it's final online stage) is called "The Perfect Goodnight Kiss and it is actually three films, all based upon the same script.
The script is a short 6-pager, written by me, about a conversation I had with my girlfriend when I was trying to convince her to go out with me.
Three filmmakers are interpreting the script. I myself, a straight man, directed two women in the film, Vermont filmmaker, Alexis Holloway, a straight woman, directed two men, and San Francisco based filmmaker, Alex Woolfson, a gay man, directed a straight couple. Same script--three perspectives.
Here is a link to our website: http://www.candleboy.com Click on "films" and "current projects" to read more about the film.
I am beginning the process of researching festivals. We are set to premiere at Estrogen Fest in Burlington, Vermont on February 21st. http://dangerfive.com/estrogenfest/

but basically the premise is that the St. John's music community is a hidden secret, an unexpectedly wildly diverse scene that is sure to delight and surprise.
Just finished a 3-year project that I co-produced and DP'ed. I have a few screenplays and shorts in the works and will probably be directing a WWII feature in the spring.
Josh...more details! I am an avid WWII movie fan. :)
It basically follows three soldiers who get separated from their unit during the most tense hours of the Battle of the Bulge. There are a few twists along the way, and a surprise ending. I'll be sure to report our progress.
Very cool! It is my dream to do something in the WWII era. My family was really affected by the war and I have a huge collection of entertainment stuff from that era, clothing, military stuff hehe. Keep me up to date!

Alright this is what im workin on....
Im currently wrapping on writing the screenplay and probably about 2 weeks away from shooting my first real movie (approx 30 mins long)...its gonna be shot in DV and as you've read in my other post...its low-budget
It's called Muddy Pond Lane and a short rundown of it the story of a great kid with a girlfriend of over a few years. He has lifelong friends however, they are in the drinking and drugs crowd and he is not. He ends up having a lot of family problems and it affects him big time. His parents abandoned him and his sister, he breaks up with his girlfriend and he ends up resorting to the drugs as an escape. To make a long story short, he gets really messed up and a lot of dramatic/surprising things happen at the end.

Started shooting a no-budget feature on Sunday called "The Body". First-day footage turned out very well. And we were able to shoot very quickly thanks to the amazing preparation from the actors.
Just nine more production days to go.

I'm just starting post-production on a new short film ("Sins of the Mother"). The setting: imagine the midway point between today and Orwell's vision of the future. "Sins of the Mother" takes us right to the border of those two worlds, and lets us see how the best intentions really can pave the way to Hell.
I've just started reviewing footage, so I'm testing out synopses for the film. How does that one sound? :)

Considering the horrors exhibited in "1984", that sounds like it's right on the money.

...and considering what is happening today in the world, it would be a worthy topic to pursue. Please post news of this project.

Okay, it took awhile, but my website is finally finished and ready for viewing. As I mentioned in an earlier post (about 2 months ago) I'm shooting a zero-budget slasher film here in Las Vegas entitled Rose. We're about 2/3 of the way done with principle photography and hope to be completely done with the entire film by July. You can view the press release for the movie, as well as cast pictures, poster concept, and behind-the-scenes essays, at the official website--www.bizzlejig.com/rose (http://www.bizzlejig.com/rose). The rest of the website has info about short films that I've made, articles, and rants. They can be accessed via the main site www.bizzlejig.com (http://www.bizzlejig.com).
I know the site's not perfect (cuz I've been teaching myself HTML from scratch), but it's been a blast making it, so I hope you'll enjoy taking a look at it.
I know I've said it before in other posts, but it's still refreshing being on a forum like this with other fellow filmmakers. It seems to be the only forum I've seen on the net that doesn't have cliques who gang up on people and boot them off for not sharing the exact same opinions as them. Everyone here, for the most part, seems really supportive of each other, and that's exactly what we need to keep us going.
(jeez, I sound like a fucking cheerleader. Sorry, guys.)
Anyway, I hope everyone on this thread follows through with their ideas and gets their films made cuz Hollywood is gonna have to bend to the pressures of good filmmaking at some point. The '60s saw a huge push for independent films as everyone got fed up with the sappy crappy stuff from Hollywood. Well, I feel like that time has come again.
Unfortunatley, it's mostly us filmmakers who feel this way. Joe Public has just gotten stupider and stupider over the years and now seems to be totally content with anticipating the next Michael Bay piece of shit thrown in their face. (there, does that make up for the cheerleading?)
Hello all,
Currently doing post and visual effects for our first feature film "Missing Jane". It's about a WW2 bomber crew that crashes in Germany during the winter of 1943. It's not a factual story, but we tried to keep everything as real to life as possible.
Hopefully We are looking at a summer release.
It's been a really cool experience. I started my own film company about 2 years ago, and I see a lot of you are doing the same thing. I hope all of you find whatever success you are looking for out of your endeavors.

i've got an original story/script that i've been trying to do myself for 3 years now. (have many others, but this story, or at least part of it, has been with me since i was 7). it's an atypical vampire movie and i HAVE to see it made. it was looking dismal, but all of the sudden i have an exectutive producer trying to get me to go to bollywoood to film it. originally i was against the idea for many reasons, but the main one was bringing on an e.p. who would try to remold my baby. i've been talking back and forth with him for a few weeks and it came to me... why not make an indian version that will keep him happy as well as mine. then he can market his version over there and i can self distribute mine over here. seems like a good idea to me. i haven't run all the particulars past him yet, but it looks promising.

Hey, everybody. Sorry I've been gone from the boards for so long. In part this is due to work. But also to a documentary I just shot. It is about the crazy baptists that harrass Mormons every year at the LDS general conference. I got some really good footage. I'm gonna call it Mormon Apocalypse. Once I get it edited, I will post a short version of the film.
Wow, I can't wait to see Mormons and Baptists battling it out in a no-holds barred match for the fate of... well, something.
Sounds fascinating, judex. I'm always intrigued by the lengths Christian "missionaries" will go to convert people of other faiths. As a youth, my own Penecoastal church sent "missionaries" to Latin America to convert Roman Catholics to Christianity. I laughed my head off when I heard that. Then I realized they were serious.
I'll definitely be watching for this one.
