Product Placement

has anyone here used product placement? How did it work? How much can you charge? I have been kicking it around and wanted to see if anyone here has any exp. with it

Unless you've secured a big distribution deal, chances are no one will pay you for product placement. However, you can get product for your movie (like bottles of water from Ozarka) and stuff like that. There are companies that specialize in Product Placement and they usually have a list of companies and products that they can place for you.

The benefit is that although you do not collect money, you do get usage rights for your movie and should you find a distributor, you will need approval for every copyrighted, trademarked logo that can be seen on clothing to the wall in the back of the room.

Last film we worked on, we did a placement shot for a local brewery, and they supplied a free keg for our wrap party.

Not really funding, but cost avoidance.
