Just wondering if any of the film threat staff are planning on coming to Toronto for the Toronto International Film Festival.

So any of you guys/gals making the trip?

Yeah, I'll be at Toronto. Shooting another episode of Festival Pass with the Starz crew and working on a secret Canadian project.

A secret Canadian project? I shudder to think!
Searching for movies of mass distraction, I presume?

:sigh: I would very much like to attend TIFF some time, that or FantAsia in Montreal would be a great vacation some year.
I guess the Vancouver Int. Film Fest is a little too small and lacking in substantial industry action to warrant a visit? VIFF could get a mention in the weekly e-letter though, could it not?

We don't really "mention" festivals in our newsletter anymore because every film festival on the planet wanted a "mention." And then they wanted a "mention" over and over. Basically the newsletter is all about reviews. Any festival can buy an ad in the newsletter and get a mention and we make it super cheap and pretty much every major festival includes FT in their marketing budget as exposure in our newsletter is far reaching. Anyway, you can check out the FT site for details on ad rates. And don't whine to me about them or tell me you are poor. Fests charge filmmakers cash for their call for entries and even a small ad in FT will result in getting your money back.

I wasn't aware that fests were required to purchase advertising space in the newsletter but the logic is sound. It just perplexes me that some folks involved with the VIFF whinge about not getting enough exposure but, as far as I know, have never advertised in FT.

I was wondering if Chris Gore was planning on seeing Wonderland, the film about John Holmes' connection to the multiple murders in Wonderland in L.A. in 1981.

Hey Dude,

I'll be heading to Vancouver. Going on a little tour with my film PINK.

Yeah, we're in VIFF. I'm going to Milan, then Halifax, Calgary, and then Vancouver.

Never gone to more than one fest in row so this should be fun. We're actually playing in 7 festivals over 2 weeks. It's kind of crazy (that saying about when it rains it pours seems to be holding quite true). I just had to order 4 more 35mm prints!

Good luck on your tour. I look forward to seeing your film when you get here.

Hey Ed, nice going on "Pink". You'll find my review of it on the Film Threat website soon. I hope your tour proves to be a successful one and that the film itself manages to be as affecting to audience members as it was to me.

Thanks Rory! I'm thrilled you liked it. It really means a lot.

Especially since I was going through a really shitty rejection phase until very recently (rejected by fests, rejected funding, etc.) then all of a sudden we're playing in 7 fests over 2 weeks.

That's always the way it goes I guess.

We just got accepted into the Austin Film Festival and I am SO excited. I'm dying to go.

your film's playing as part of the "Song of Wreckage" series, looks like a great bill.
