You dopey liberals are for free speech unless it involves God. You're for privacy unless it involves a firearm. You're for profits unless it involves another. You're for equal treatment unless it involves a minority. You're for the protection of criminal lives but the decimation of the unborn. Your clandestine extremism is staggering. Your quiet hyprocrisy is deafening.

Oooookay... where to start. Lessee...

First of all I don't know many liberal who aren't for the equal treatment of minorities. Somehow that would kind of go against the whole liberalism thing.

I also know a hell of a lot of liberals who are 100% for God. Wiccans and Pagans, for example, are REALLY religious.

Don't people who own guns always use the old "Well, if the goverment turned bad we could fight them." excuse? Isn't that a little bit UNamerican? To not believe in your country? To threaten the government? To be against the PRESIDENT even? What kind of Conservative are you???

Protection of criminal lives? Well if you mean rapists and murderers, I don't think anyone's offering to open the doors just yet. I think moral crimes and some drug crimes are a little ridiculous. If you want to know how silly moral crimes can be in the US, please realize that while Sodomy isn't legal everywhere in the States, it's perfectly legal in IRAQ.

As for the abortion thing. WE are saving YOU the cost and effort of executing these people when they turn into rapists and murderers about 16 to 18 years down the line. Every time someone carjacks you, he could have been an abortion statistic but nooooooooooooooooooooo... we had to do it your way.

Decimation? Please. 52.23 children out of every 1000 die of natural causes. GOD did that. Go picket him! 16.61 out of every 1000 die because of abortion or murder or neglect. That means 75% of all the children who die, died because God wanted them to. God is not against abortion. God is not against Death. God fucking CREATED death.

As for it opposing God's will. What could oppose God's will? Huh? Do you know? Ask a priest, he'll tell you. NOTHING!!!!! Nothing could oppose God's will NOTHING!!!!!!!!! So whatever is happening in the world IS God's will. Complain to him.

I'm the LAST person in the world to agree with everything liberals say and do however I have to commend them for the fact that they (for the most part) don't feel threatened by conservatism. While conservatives just can't stand the idea of someone not agreeing with them all the time. It says a lot about someone's values when they need their ideals reinforced all the time. It also says a lot about a person's values when they need them challenged so they can sound off how smart they are. Right anki? *wink* *nudge* right?

Your inability to put forth a coherent argument refuting my point is what is responsible for the verbal diarrhea that you suffer from. If lewd and personal attacks are what you prefer in lieu of intelligent debate, then I suggest that you find yourself a forum that better suits your of intellectual capacity or lack thereof.

How smart I am is open to debate. What is irrefutable is how right I am.

You know anti, this whole obnoxious thread is boring the shit out of all of us, and I think you might have stirred the ire of the site administrator, and a few others, so if you truly are a smart, superior human being, you will cease & desist NOW!

As the infamous Graham Rae once said, "Life has not equipped you for this debate."

Buh-bye!

Hypocricy is not sole property of the liberal intelligensia. You should read the works of Leo Strauss, the godfather of the neo-conservative movement. Talk about hypocricy, elitism and hidden agendas. Wolfowitz was one of his students and many say he is the guiding force behind the Bush administration.

Like many glib new political junkies, you're "I'm right and you're wrong attitude" just personifies the new pop politics, which is based on sound bites and pat statements.

I could make similar pat declarations about conservatives. "They say they are interested in freedom, but irode our civil rights. They say they are interested in the common man but aim all their policies at benefiting the rich. They say the are interested in preserving religious freedom, but only if you are a fundamentalist christian." I know these statements aren't true. They simplify complex issues, but I could make a good case for it by cherry picking facts.

In politics the definate rights and wrongs are often hard to discern. Why do you think we have been debating these issues for about 5 thousand years?

Those of you who have resisted personal attacks raise fair points. There is a middle ground in American politics, and this is where moderates like myself exist and thrive. I would like to welcome all of the Film Threat extremists who have attempted to menace me with character assasination to join me. Let us together write a new chapter of moderation and fairness, where all Americans can participate in the political discourse and be heard, respected and influential. Thank you.

Just Kinda curious, Anti...any reason why you chose here to discuss this topic? Might have more luck at a board that is related to politics. Im sure everyone has an opinion on this, but, it's something I personally try to avoid as it can only lead to arguments. :)

The sad thing is I love political debate. I just hate the name-calling, loud-mouth pundit rants that have overtaken America in the last ten years.

I blame Rush Limbaugh. The tragedy is people mimic these blowhards (I count both liberals and conservatives). They take what these clowns say as gospel, and don't study the issues on their own.

Most modern conservatives have never heard of Leo Strauss, even though he is probably the most influential conservative thinker in the past 30 years. Liberals are not much better, but I think they at least have a passing acquaintence with Noam Chomsky.

Instead most folks rely on the vitriol spewed by the Ann Coultors, Michael Moores, Sean Hannitys, Al Frankens (although he does make me laugh), Michael Savages and the like that have poisoned serious political debate.

Whatever happened to "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it?"

I'm with Judex on the death of real political debate in the old USA. I used to watch political panel shows, but I gave up on them a few years ago. They used to be places for serious political discussion. Now shows like CNN's Crossfire and others basically just feature people yelling at each and repeating the same old smelly lies on both sides.

My old debating coach, Mrs. Kuniski, taught us how to eat windbags for breakfast and be polite doing it. Maybe she should teach all those pundits a thing or two.

In Film Related Political News:

I heard that a filmmaker's doing a film called MICHAEL & ME or something like that. He's trying to get Moore to answer some questions about the glaring factual errors in his films. So far, no dice.

What he has found out so far is that Moore travels with a J-Lo sized entourage of loyal minions and flies around the country on private jet provided by his publisher, and won't talk to anybody that questions the facts in his films.

In other words, you can say anything you want as long as you don't trash my religion. I always thought it was the Conservatives who held this view. They're the ones trying to defend the "sanctity" of marriage.

You're for privacy unless it involves a firearm.

In other words, liberals want to let people do whatever they want UNLESS it involves a firearm. Actually, most liberals want regulation of firearm sales and distribution due to the tremendous potential for injury and death posed by these devices. They don't want to take the right away, just ensure that safety is paramount. Has nothing to do with privacy.

This makes no sense. Too vague to be logical.

I assume this refers to Affirmative Action. The logic behind AA is that minorities start out at a disadvantage; giving them a leg up actually CREATES equality. Personally, I don't buy it, but that's the liberal argument.

I agree with you. A Pro-Lifer should be Anti-Death Penalty, and a Pro-Choicer should be Pro-Death Penalty. Personally, I think we should resurrect public humiliation: greater deterrent with no loss of life.

Your clandestine extremism is staggering.

Extremism, by nature, cannot be clandestine. Unless you're the Unabomber, in which case your singularity separates you from a nation-wide political viewpoint. NOTHING so widespread as liberalism can be extreme. Lowest common denominator and all that.

This coming from someone who blasted those who took personal shots at him/her, yet opened their statement with the phrase, "You dopey liberals...." Pot, meet kettle.

These days, it's all about money anyway. Liberal/conservative labels are becoming more and more irrelevant. Kind of like message boards.
