View Full Version : ...the critic and your mind:

...a question and a thought all at once that burns at the epicentre of my very mind --

why does the critic exist:

i put forth this question because pure and true logick dictates to me that no critic whatsoever can ever know what inspiries me -- and most critics seem to be embittered sexless entities using obsolete theorems of movie and film to critique a film or a movie that can only be truly celebrated and embraced on a subjective level:

this applies to all modes of personal expression and personal desires -- film: musick; fashion: travel: eating: poetry: storytellling:'consumerism --- and and every and all experiences can never ever be approximated nor dictated by the critic:

...with this said -- i woud like to add further that i consider the critic to be a viral parasitic entity that has no true function within contemporary living and life within the 21st century -- and i would like to take the time right here right now to beseech others to stopping listening and reading the shit from the critic and experiencing the movie itself on a personal level that holds great meaning and revelance within your life instead of becoming dictated to by the critic whom acts as a vomit fountain for
catchy 'attitude' and pathetically limited semantics ('.....rob meat gives: the performance of his career....') --

to quote arthea franklin --

'..you better think.....'

I hate to be a critic but there's no k in logic and it should be Aretha Franklin, not arthea franklin.
And your grammar, punctuation and overall sentence structure could use a little work.
Oh, and one last thing, this post should probably be over in the Rant section. Thanks.

this post and another by archon_666 make me think that this is a person who doesn't understand how to take criticism.

I work as a visual artist and graphic designer. I also write from time to time. Without the criticism of people whose opinions I value, I would have a harder time improving myself. Sure, some critics are bitter and reactionary, but so are some artists. The critics have their role just as the artist and audience do.

And hey-- if you don't like what someone's telling you, then don't listen. But don't impugn their right to complain.

Do you not understand the problem with your little diatribe here? "Critics" don't "dictate" your experience, they give their opinion on the subjective experience they had with the movie/music/book in question. Automanic's right, the artist has his/her forum, and so does the critic. If you're a filmmaker, grow a thicker skin or get in a line of work that doesn't involve people telling you their opinions. Like, say, digging graves.

You should really take this discussion elsewhere, like here, in this thread called "Death to Movie Critics." Try this link:

Is it just me... or does Archon 666 not like movie critics?

I kinda get that vibe from him.

This thread is totally pointless considering the multitude of intelligent, well thought out replies in the other archon/anti-critic, free your mind, blah, blah, blah thread.

Bang! Closed post!
