Dead Snow

So Baron, I get that this was a tribute to some classics like "Evil Dead", but it just didn't work for me. Too cheesy. I did love "Let The Right One In" though...

C'mon, Ellen... Zombies and Nazis... They go together like chocolate and peanut butter; therefore, I must disagree with your assessment. Yes, it was cheesy, but intentionally so. It was an homage to Evil Dead and Dead Alive, with a little Leprechaun thrown in. ("Whare's me gold?")Personally, I'm looking forward to the possibility of Dead Snow 2. (No, there are no rumors to that effect.)

I have to agree, the movie isn't that deep (though I tried, for a moment, to read some meaning into Nazis from the past rising up to basically put the hurt on the younger generation but if that is there then the movie is REALLY nihilistic), but it is fun as hell. I'd say it's definitely in the same ballpark as something like Re-Animator or Evil Dead, just fun for fun's sake. If I were 18 today and saw Dead Snow it would probably be my favorite movie of the year.

Did anyone see this guy's other movie, Kill Buljo? It looked pretty awful but since he made Dead Snow, I was contemplating giving it a shot.

Dead Snow has more attention than anything as seemingly low-budget looking has gotten in some time. I haven't seen it yet... but I don't think it'll come anywhere near "Let the Right One In" in terms of awesomelyradness

The problem is, you can't really compare the two movies.

Let the Right One In is a thoughtful film about being different and coping with the difficulties of life. It just happens to involve a vampire. It is not a horror movie.

Dead Snow, on the other hand, is a balls-out, over the top horror comedy drenched in intentionally cheesy gore. Nothing thought provoking about it.

One makes you go, "Ah;" the other, makes you go "Ha!" It's apples & oranges, my friends... apples & oranges.

I thought there's a sandwich place in L.A. that has the "Cheesy Gore" named after Chris...Heh!

Loved "Let The Right One In"... "Dead Snow" not so much.
I guess I like thoughtful vampire movies better than camp Nazi zombies.

And the fabulous Mr. Rae did a review of "Dead Snow" for FT... I don't think Mr. Sorrento has posted it yet... Stay tuned!

Speaking of thoughtful vampire movies, I think that tonight I'm going to see Thirst.

I'll let you know what I think.
