The Twilight Zone

I watched, as I'm sure many of you other TWILIGHT ZONE fans watched about 5 episodes during July 4th weekend.

I'd just like to say that The Twilight Zone is by far the most imaginative and wonderful show to ever hit the boob tube.

The topics it covers are far reaching and we can relate to even today. I love the one with the hustler selling "magic dust" to the old Mexican man so that he could save his son's life.

There are countless great episodes of the show with some brilliant direction involved -- I'm just starting this thread so that many of you who know facts about the show can drop your knowledge and enlighten us all.

The real secret weapon of that show was its staff of writers.
Rod Serling wrote the bulk of the episodes, a tactic that hurt both his health and the show in later episodes, but it also gave a spot for a group of then young upstart writers that was nicknamed the California Sorcerers or just The Group.

The Group included such luminaries and underrated talents as Charles Beaumont, Robert Bloch, Richard Matheson, Harlan Ellison, William F. Nolan, Jerry Sohl & George Clayton Johnson. Literary legend Ray Bradbury served as an elder statesman and mentor to the group.

How can you go wrong with a bunch like that?

Everytime they do the marathons on the Sci-Fi channel for Twilight Zone , I always watch most of the episodes just because it is classic. I used to have a thing for Rod Sterling, I thought he was attractive and mysterious all at the same time.

That and it helps understand some of the Simpsons episodes a little more.

Funny thing that you mention his name as being Rod Sterling... I used to make the same mistake until it was pointed out to me via a $5 bet that it was Rod Serling...

go figure.
