Fast, furious and ultra-violent, “City of God,” Fernando Meirelles’ tale of two boys growing up in a seedy neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, is said to have the same gritty feel of Amores Perros and even “Goodfellas.” And, like Boogie Nights, the film takes place over a longs stretch of time, in this case ten years as one boy turns to photography and the other one turns to dealing drugs.
