PAUL SCHRADER: SET ON “AUTO FOCUS”

Paul Schrader is no stranger to the dirty things people tend to do in front of the camera, what with his 1978 film “Hardcore,” focusing on a man’s mission to save his daughter from the seedy porn underworld. Match that with his penchant for controversy, penning such warm-hearted fare as “The Last Temptation of Christ,” and you could say that with Auto Focus Schrader is up to his old tricks.

Based on Robert Graysmith’s book, Auto Focus: The Murder of Bob Crane, Schrader delves into the kinky extra-curricular activities “Hogan’s Heroes” star Bob Crane indulged in that may have indeed led to his murder.

Paul Schrader took some time with us to talk about amateur porn, murder and swimming in the deep end of the pool.
