Queer filmmakers, fans, supporters and festival goers attending Sundance, Slamdance and the other film festivals in Park City, Utah will be able to mix, mingle and
network at one of the hippest places in Utah – THE QUEER LOUNGE.
The Queer Lounge will be located in downtown Park City at the Gateway Center just off Main Street kicking off on January 16th – 24th, 2004. This newly established meeting point and gathering place is the brainchild of Out in
Television and Film’s LA Career Event Programmer and independent film producer, Ellen Huang.
The concept and need for The Queer Lounge came to Huang, a former feature film executive, while attending other festivals and film markets around the world.
“While I was at these events, I realized there wasn’t a place where queer and queer-friendly folks could find one another, hang out and make business contacts,” says Huang. “Being a veteran of the Sundance Film Festival for
many years, I would see many of my lesbian and gay industry friends working hard throughout the festival, and wanted to create something that would speak to us and make our Sundance experience even greater.”
The Queer Lounge will be a hospitality space and networking hub where guests (queer or straight) can find out information about queer films playing at the concurrent festivals, check their email, grab a free cup of coffee, view trailers of festival films, attend panel discussions or just relax. Each afternoon, The Queer Lounge will hold
networking mixers and at night, The Queer Lounge will host special events.
