The American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre and Outfest collaborate to present gay and lesbian programming on Wednesdays at the Egyptian in Los Angeles. Outfest Wednesdays is the only gay and lesbian-themed weekly screening series in the country. Founded in 1999, the programming features favorites from past festivals, Hollywood revivals, filmmaker retrospectives and sneak preview word of mouth screenings of upcoming releases.

*Please note that two programs in this series are not on Wednesdays as indicated below.

On Tuesday, May 17th is a sneak preview of MY SUMMER OF LOVE (2004, Focus Features, 84 min.), directed by Pawel Pawlikowski and Michael Wynne. The film is about two girls who rebel against their dysfunctional families and retreat into a secret relationship.

On Thursday, May 26th is our 5th Annual Queer Shorts presentation. An evening of short films ranging in theme from the thrills of first love, to the humor of mistaken identity – from innocent crushes and taboo affairs.

On Wednesday, June 1st is a screening of INFLATED: THE BLOW UP DOLL FILMS OF STEVE HALL AND CATHEE WILKINS, about the adventures of horny blow up dolls Candy and Summer.

On Wednesday, June 8th is WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? (1962, Warner Bros., 134 min.), directed by Robert Aldrich. Joan Crawford and Bette Davis star as washed up showbiz sisters descending into dysfunctionality and madness.

On Wednesday, June 15th is I LOVE YOU NO MORE (JE T’AIME MOI NON PLUS) (1976, Connaisance Du Cinema, 90 min.), directed by French rocker Serge Gainsbourg. In one of the legendary European films of the 70s, Jane Birkin (WONDERWALL) stars with Joe Dallesandro (THE LIMEY).

On Wednesday, June 22nd is STR8 TALK a short film compilation features stories of straight and gay life coinciding. On Wednesday, June 29th is a screening of JUCHITÁN QUEER PARADISE (2003, 64 min.), a documentary about Oaxaca, Mexico, where homosexuals are accepted into community life.
