IFC’s (Independent Film Channel) nomination show marks the first time that film fans can see the 2007 Film Independent’s Spirit Awards nominations announced live. Felicity Huffman and Don Cheadle will present the nominees, on November 28, 2006, at 8:00 a.m. PST/ from the Sofitel LA hotel.

Selected from more than 250 submissions, this year’s winners will be unveiled at Spirit Awards ceremony on Saturday, February 24, 2007, in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica. Sarah Silverman will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the second consecutive year.

The ceremony will air live beginning at 5:00 pm EST on IFC. Live red carpet footage will precede the show starting at 4:30 pm EST on WE tv, and an edited re-broadcast of the ceremony will air later that evening on AMC at 10:00 pm EST/PST.

We can think of few things more boring than an award show, but a nomination show for an award show has made the list. Then again, this is the Spirit Awards, hosted by Sarah Silverman, and they tend to be more tolerable and laid-back than any other film awards, so… if you’re awake at 8am, why not surf on over to IFC.com?
