Now lovely Kirsten Dunst, whose most recent success was the cheerleading hit “Bring It On,” will step into the shoes of Mary Jane Watson, Spider-Man’s girlie, in Sam Raimi’s highly-anticipated “Spider-Man” feature. The movie is set to begin filming in January, and will likely reach theaters right around [ May of 2002 ] .
Dunst will join co-stars Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man/Peter Parker) and Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin) for filming in Los Angeles, and though she has been called “the finest actor of her generation” by her “The Crow: Salvation” director Bharat Nalluri, she rounds out a group of performers who are already among the most talented in the business.
