INDIE CINEMA AT TWO BOOTS IN N.Y.

The Two Boots Pioneer Theater in New York is hosting a special three-month program of extraordinary premieres from some of indie cinema’s biggest talents every Wednesday from April through June. A few of the first Wedensday events include:
April 4th: “The Immigrant Experience Film Series,” presented by New York’s Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Central to this program is the first-ever screening of the newly restored 1939 Yiddish-language classic “Motl the Operator.” This melodrama on the Jewish immigrant experience and the rise of the labor movement in turn-of-the-century New York, “Motl the Operator” is being presented for the first time with English subtitles.
April 10th: “Echoes,” Atsushi Funahashi’s edgy feature about a directionless young woman on the Lower East Side whose life changes when she steals a purse that mysteriously contains a clue to an unsettled element of her own past.
April 17th: “Caesar’s Park,” in which filmmaker Sarah Price (producer of Chris Smith’s “American Movie” and “Home Movie”) moves to a new area and gets to know her neighbors via interviews filmed over the course of a year.
The Two Boots Pioneer Theater is located at 155 East 3rd Street @ Avenue A. They can be reached at 212-254-0300, or at the official Theater site.
