THE ACADEMY WELCOMES “THE HUSTLER”
“The Hustler,” which earned nine Academy Award nominations and won two Oscars in 1961, will screen on Friday, June 28th at 8PM in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
Paul Newman earned his second Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Fast Eddie Felson, a pool hustler who challenges the legendary Minnesota Fats, played by Jackie Gleason (who earned his only Academy Award nomination).
Tickets for “The Hustler” are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members. They may be purchased in advance by mail, in person at the Academy during regular business hours beginning June 3rd, or on the night of the screening when the doors open at 7PM, if seats are still available. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. For more information, call 310-247-3600.
