Paul Rothbart’s short comedy provides an amusing detour into “careful what you wish for” territory. Rothbart plays the successful director of romantic films that leave female moviegoers in teary-eyed emotionalism. But the director’s wife (Cooper Campbell) never experiences any of that.

Away from the movies, the director is a beer-swilling slob who sits around and watches TV sports. After complaining that she’d like to see some of the director’s reel-life romanticism in her daily existence, she gets her wish – sort of.

Rothbart and Campbell, who collaborated on the screenplay, have a charming rapport, and their clever lesson on not believing everything you see on a movie screen will certainly resonate with anyone who complains about living in a quotidian world.
