Those who have studied stand-up comedy undoubtedly know that the best
comedy comes from pain. Be it emotional or physical, great comedians
have always been able to take the worst things in their life and morph them into something for all of us to laugh at. Debra Jo Rupp plays Rosy Marconi in “The Act” and applies this idea tenfold.
Onstage Rosy is witty and harsh towards her “ex husband.” however when we see her off-stage, things are quite different. Director Pi Ware has created a short that is both funny and sad as well as somewhat surprising in the end.
