Why don’t the studios in Hollywood make romantic thrillers like they used to? Apparently because they can’t.
Gin Baker (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is an insurance agent on the trail of master thief Robert MacDougal (Sean Connery), but SHE’S NOT EXACTLY WHAT SHE SEEMS. Yadda, yadda, yadda art heist. Yadda, yadda, yadda bigger art heist. Yadda, yadda, yadda THE BIG JOB.
Who cares? It sucks. Did anyone think this would be any good? The stars have zero chemistry and the movie is none too thrilling. Director Jon Amiel proved he couldn’t make a decent thriller with “Copycat” and now he’s 0 for 2. Every major plot twist is bungled in delivery. Where’s Brian DePalma when you need him? Where’s Alfred Hitchcock when you need him? Where’s a real screenplay when you need it?
