These shorts, shown on and now making the festival circuit, are cute but gross little quickies created by Darren Walsh of Aardman, one of the filmmakers who worked on Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run. They draw a crowd both because nobody can really get the full experience from the Internet, and because they are funny with just the right touch of vulgarity.
What’s really interesting about the shorts is the clever mix of live action and pixelation (the actor must be moved like a puppet frame by frame), with mask replacement and claymation putting a new head on the body. After more than 40 years, Walsh finally found a use for claymation that really works.
