A wildly-visual director serves up cyberpunk tastelessness, with a disturbing side of stereotyping to boot. Surrealism never felt so uninspired.
This feels more like a demo reel than a coherent film. Santa’s daughter sneaks out of her house to go party, but gets eaten by a policeman. Meanwhile, Samuel L. Santa is whuppin the shit out of some kid who caught him delivering presents. At his next stop he seduces the policeman’s wife, kills the cop and recovers his daughter (oh, did I mention there are lots of gross bits?). Visually this is a nice cross between Blade Runner and Alien with a fair amount of Terry Gilliam and Tarantino thrown in. Story-wise, though, this thing’s a mess. Director Pieter Van Hees would be well-served by developing his own style instead of just Frankenstien-fusing bits of other people’s work.
