It is sad how much of nothing can happen in less than 3 minutes, no matter how good the photography is. “The Last Fart” tells an uninteresting story set in 1882 Mexico, and follows El Poncho, the fastest gunslinger around. “Faster than his own shadow,” the titles claim, yet this man of speed can’t control his flatulence problem. That kind of problem can’t be good for gunfighters, especially when confronting their deadliest opponent. Writer/Director Philippe Robert shows off his good visual style, but unfortunately it’s wasted on a dull story that says nothing except that the gag of “fart” just isn’t that funny anymore. It doesn’t matter what time period you throw it in.
