Mulva (Debbie Rochon) is back … sort of. This is a different
Mulva than the one who was a zombie ass kicker, a fact brought up several times in this spoof of the two “Kill Bill” volumes. It seems that a sugar coma induced by Teen Ape five years ago turned Mulva into quite the looker. She’s out of that vegetative state now, though, and is looking for revenge on the people who did her wrong.
If you’re a fan of the first Mulva film, as I am, you’ll enjoy this. It isn’t as gut-busting funny as the first one, but it’s a nice continuation of the Mulva empire, and Rochon proves once again that she is an actor who will do anything to make a role believable. Writer/director Chris Seaver is starting to get a bit more mature with his humor (but just a bit), too, and it works here. Yes there are the standard juvenile moments you’ve come to expect and love in a Low Budget Pictures film, but there is also more emphasis on the story this time around. As a certain ex-con would say, that’s a good thing.
If you’ve never liked the movies from this production company, I would recommend you give this one a chance. It won’t make you an instant fan, but it does give you a good idea of where Seaver and company are headed. There’s bigger budgets, better special effects, actors with more talent, and the stories are evolving. Don’t expect the films to lose Seaver’s special touches, however. That just isn’t going to happen.
A franchise has been started here. When can we expect “Mulva Episode
Three: The Revenge of Puggly”?
