10 years of marriage have done all but keep romance alive in the relationship between stunningly attractive housewife Zoe (Spanish soap opera star Barbara Mori) and her lifeless husband Ignacio (Christian Meier) who spends more time concerning himself with work rather than keeping his wife happy. Boredom sends Zoe into the arms of Ignacio’s artist brother, Gonzalo (Manolo Cardona), who’s all too happy to provide her with the lovin’ she needs. Zoe finds herself in a pickle, all the while enjoying Gonzalo’s cucumber. Does she leave her husband for his brother? But what if Gonzalo doesn’t turn out to be the knight in shining armor she so desires? Hope you like your melodrama steamy.
The set-up is totally Skinemax, but production value separates this film from that brand of fine cable television programming…that and the alarming absence of nudity. Actually, we get teased a little here and there with some skin, but it’s nothing you’ll be compelled to write to mom about. Also, twists and turns eventually pop up that transform this movie from steamy soap opera to something a little more complex. Problem is, you can see these twists coming miles down the road. Once you get to them you’re already tired of the whole thing.
The story’s no great shakes here. However, the power of this film lies in the sexual tension boiling between the characters and that makes for a great date movie. You’re almost guaranteed some filthy squeezing with this one.
“La Mujer de mi Hermano” also serves as a warning to all of you deadbeat lovers out there. DON’T NEGLECT YOUR LADY! Now stop playing around on the Internet and go give her some!
